Just saying it, the word forming and slipping from your mouth forbodes a deep, dark warning. And so it should.
Cancer is called the disease of our time. It is everywhere and no one is exempt from getting it.
The Cancer Statistics – National Cancer Institute, according to a report from April 27, 2018, states that from 2011 to 2015, the number of new cases of Cancer was 439 per 100,000 people per year. The number of Cancer deaths during the same years was 163 per 100,000 per year.
Let Me Touch on Grief for Just a Moment
Most likely you personally or someone you know has lost a loved one to Cancer.
This loss of a loved one is a horrible and painful experience. I convey sympathy and empathy to all who have gone through this.
Sadly, there is no “quick fix” for grief. To find help with your grief, you might have come across some “quick fixes”, but they never work. And shame on the people who took advantage of anyone who is grappling with a tragic loss.
There are effective and comfortable ways to help mend a broken heart. Methods that gently lead you back to brighter days.
If your grief is too personal and painful to share openly, then let me offer this guidebook to help you in the privacy of your own home. This guide also helps anyone who has gone through a personal loss by learning about the stages of grief and how to survive each one.
If you are grieving for a loved one, this guide will help you.
Cancer Cases are Increasing at an Alarming Rate!
This is a far cry from my youthful years when you might have heard about one or two people you knew being diagnosed with a disease doctors labeled as “Cancer”. Cancer was virtually unheard of in the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s where I grew up.
But now, unfortunately, the numbers of patients diagnosed with cancer are exponentially growing. Given the estimates for 2018, on average 4,754 people per day are diagnosed with cancer and 1,670 people per day die of cancer.
THAT IS SCARY!
Cancer is now more common than the common cold and is diagnosed more often than the flu.
Has the Government’s Promise to Find a Cure for Cancer been Kept?
Well, we all know the answer to this question. It is a BIG FAT NO, it has not!
In 1971, President Nixon announced a war on Cancer and promised a cure for Cancer by the year 1976. However, each year since this, more people have died from Cancer than in the previous year.
The War on Cancer
During the writing of this article, some 47 years have passed. And the war on Cancer? Sadly Cancer is winning. And to boot, we still are using the same antiquated procedures we used in the 1970s. Yes, there are “new” chemotherapy drugs, but to “treat cancer” we still use the same procedures…cut out the malignant cells, followed by poison the entire body with chemotherapy and burn the body with radiation.
This approach not only attempts to destroy Cancer but it also destroys the good, healthy cells in the body, leaving you with a weakened immune system and damaged cells. For approximately every 3 Cancer patients, 1 dies from complications of the treatment.
So if you survive the treatment, you now have to recover from not only a single health issue but possibly one or more additional ones. And the odds of survival are only about 66%! Of course, this depends on several factors:
- How early you detected Cancer.
- What type of Cancer you have.
- Has your Cancer metastasized (spread to other sites in the body).
- Your personal health makeup and how well YOU respond to the surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
- How well your Cancer responds to the therapy.
- Environmental elements.
Some types of Cancer are more responsive to this therapy than others. Pancreatic Cancer has proven to be one of the most difficult types and often does not respond well to therapy. Others, such as skin melanoma respond better when diagnosed early.

Conventional Therapies VS Holistic Natural Supplements

I know this is a controversial topic. Alternative treatments to Cancer. Really? Maybe. Hopefully.
For full disclosure, I have not been diagnosed with Cancer. I do not believe I am among those that are living with Cancer and do not know it. I currently do not know anyone who has been diagnosed with Cancer or has recently died from Cancer. For this, I am truly grateful. However, this is a topic near and dear to my heart, since my wife’s mother died from Cancer in the 1980s. So I do have a personal connection with the horrors of this disease.
Since I am currently lucky in that I am not personally dealing with Cancer and hoping to never have to again (knock on wood), I have not personally experienced the number of suggested natural supplements that are suggested to help with the fight against Cancer. However, the buzz regarding these supplements is intense and I believe worth noting.
Also, I do not know what therapy path I would take if I were ever to be diagnosed with Cancer. Chemotherapy and radiation are scary and their side-effects are even scarier. The survival rate, depending on the type of Cancer, is also frightening. The survival from the complications of chemo and radiation is even more frightening.
Alternatively, do natural supplements really work? Which one(s) should I use. How would I know? Where can I find a doctor who is willing to work with me and not criticize my choices?
Given my wife’s family history (both her mother and her maternal aunt died from different types of Cancer), I have extensively researched both sides. The information is extensive, too much to put on one web page. Check out my blog posts on the various topics about Cancer.
Recommended information about chemotherapy, coping with loss, and promoting overall health and a healthy lifestyle are provided as links on this page. Check out my sources in the sidebar to the right of this post.
